One-to-Ones & Small Groups
These sessions are for individuals or small groups which take place in your own home. They can be weekly, monthly or just one off sessions. Learning yoga on a one-to-on basis allows for a very specific practise completely tailored to individual needs or interests. It is also a good way of learning general principles before attending a group class.
Yoga in Pregnancy One- to-One
I offer one to one teaching in pregnancy yoga or a small group, which could also include your partner. This can take place in your own home.
These sessions are suitable from the 2nd trimester and will focus on gentle stretching and strengthening, relaxation and breathing practises with preparation for birth in mind.
Yoga for Senior Citizens
I teach private classes at residential care homes and at a sheltered housing complex. The main focus of this type of class is to work with joint mobility, breathing exercises and relaxation using visualisations. Much of the session tends to be seated in a chair and therefore these classes are suitable for those with limited mobility. For those people with more mobility, I give the option of practising postures from standing although they are able to use the support of the chair if required.
I teach yoga for the over 60s at The Fairfield Centre in Leatherhead. The sessions are gentle yoga from the mat for the majority but those who prefer to stay seated in a chair are also warmly welcomed. If you, or someone you know, would like to try this session, please either contact me for more information or alternative contact the centre manager:
The Fairfield Centre
34 Swan Court
We meet each Tuesday afternoon between 15:15 and 16:15.
Yoga for Back Pain
Together with my friend and fellow teacher Jackie Dyson, we have developed an 8 week course specifically designed for people who are living with back pain. The focus of the class is strengthening the back together with gentle mobilisation to improve suppleness. We teach students to develop body awareness which helps them to manage their own condition whilst their bodies begin to heal. We also ask all students to practise at home with the guidance of homework sheets and most find that with regular practise, their pain begins to ease.
Please contact me for additional information should you be interested in signing up for the next course.
For People Living with Serious Illness
These classes have a focus on promoting range of movement to keep the body mobile and always include breathing practises, meditation and deep relaxation. They are designed with the capabilities and needs of the group and will be specifically tailored.
I teach a regular class on Friday mornings at:
The Olive Tree cancer Support Centre
West Green Drive
Please contact either me or Marilyn Drury at the centre for more information.
